"An airport is a functional building. lt is also the expression of a dream. lt is also a symbol. What are the images of birds for? They remind us of this dream and this symbol." (Andreu)
The interchange at the centre of Terminal 2 integrates a TGV train station and the RER, two modes of transport providing connections within the airport between the different terminals, a conference centre and a hotel. Jean-Marie Duthilleul was in charge of the work for the SNCF (national train company). English engineer Peter Rice designed the structure that supports the glass roof over the TGV platforms. He developed a system of cantilevered beams that give the roof the appearance of weightlessness that symbolises flight.
