2 CV Series
1981 - 1982
While the philosopher Roland Barthes erected a monument to the Citroën DS in his Mythologies (1957), Culbert never ceased to pay tribute to the 2CV.
Without exaggerating, we can say that this car was his muse, just as the Sault dump was his gold mine and the scrap objects he collects there would stimulate his imagination for a long time to come. The 2CV, the incandescent filament light bulb, the wine glass and the plastic containers count as essential catalysts in his approach. Culbert is one of the most refined stylists in the essentially recomposed family of the bric-a-brac artists. This work demonstrates his unlimited resourcefulness.
