Conceived by the Anthology Film Archives in New York and the Deutsches Filmmuseum in Frankfurt, this important retrospective has, to its credit, brought together a large number of innovatory films, produced by artists from other spheres of expression and involved in the modernist movement (Paul Strand or Charles Sheeler), alongside Hollywood directors on the fringe of the system, such as Robert Florey.
