Sans titre
1966
Following an initial informal period, Ristori's painting began to manifest a form of gestural regulation.
These two large canvases from 1966 are imbued with a tension between gestural expressiveness and the modular structure. The brushstrokes are larger and the palette of colours is reduced. The marks have become forms, organised in accordance with a perceptible order. These vaguely polygonal forms are still dissimilar from each other and in a palette of five colours. At the same time as the future "Trace-forms" were becoming regular, the palette was then reduced to four colours (white, blue, yellow and red).
