Traces-formes
circa 1968
ln 1968, Ristori adopted a protocol for his painting that he called "Trace-form", to which he would adhere strictly for all his future production.
Thereafter, François Ristori painted hexagonal forms of 37.5 x 48.5 cm, each side of which was subjected to an "intervention", fitting into each other and filling the totality of the support. He used three colours (white, blue, red) in such a way that two hexagons of the same colour were not in contact. The artist repeated and reactualised this protocol on different supports. By systematising these "Trace-forms", Ristori left no room in his paintings for expressiveness or subjectivity.
