The extension of the Fine Arts Museum in Chur is a successful example of a contemporary building integrated into an old structure.
A simple, compact space was added to the original 19th-century Villa Planta to present the collections of works from the 18th century to the present day. lt differs formally from the latter while echoing it through a series of subtle references, such as the use of the Palladian style and orientalist ornamentation, while the central and symmetrical plan unifies the two venues. With great complementarity, the identity of each one is asserted while maintaining the coherence of the whole.
