Phantom Fiend est le premier remake de L'Éventreur. On y retrouve Ivor Novello, l'interprète principal du film d'Alfred Hitchcock. Pour cette nouvelle version, l'acteur participa aussi à l'écriture du scénario. Maurice Elvey introduit une nouvelle tournure à cette histoire. Ce film est inédit en France.
