This work bears the marks of its own creation.
This gouache, covered with an energetic underlying drawing in felt-tip pen and coloured ink, shows Dieter Roth's unembellished spontaneity. The strips of kraft paper still visible around the edge testify to the artist's method and seem to suggest the work is still on the "drawing board" or "desk pad". These signs are complemented by the addition of a photograph of the gouache in its previous state, highlighting the artistic process itself.
