Fauteuil du docteur
1919
On becoming a gynaecologist, Jean Dalsace, used this furniture item in his consulting room.
The doctor’s armchair is distinguished from those of his patients by details expressing his authority. The high back with its rounded shape blends in with the armrests. Its large curved seat rests on four thick legs, joined together by a cross-shaped bracket with a sphere at the intersection. Although the design of this model differs little from the archetypal armchair, its modern aesthetic is surprising for the time. Jean Dalsace was not only avant-garde in his patronage but also in his professional practice, advocating painless childbirth and family planning.
