Destruction, when broached in the experimental-cinema arena, invariably entails a wholesale overhaul of cinematographic conventions. Ventures into this field subvert storylines, trample codes and break down figures and forms. They portray pandemonium brutally then teasingly, in turn. This nine-session programme has been compiled from the Musée national d'art moderne's film collection and will be running alongside the Big Bang exhibition. It shows how experimental cinema uses representation's negative power to marshal anti-poetic thrust, pitching the destructive power of forms in the throes of metamorphosis against the logic of creation.
