This event presents three films, Parade (2014) by Shahryar Nashat, an adaptation of the ballet choreographed by Adam Linder, Violence's Detour (2021), directed and choreographed by Adam Linder and commissioned by the Opéra national de Lyon and Ditch Plains (2013) by Loretta Fahrenholz.
Parade proposes a contemporary reflection on Jean Cocteau's eponymous avant-garde ballet (1917), considered as one of the first modern ballets for which Erik Satie and Pablo Picasso collaborated. The video creation, the scenography and the camera work are by Shahryar Nashat, while the choreography was conceived by Adam Linder.
Violence's Detour, directed by Adam Linder, shows dancer Samuel Pereira being observed by French doctor Jacques Samani. Memory and desire mingle around these two people of different generations.
The film was supported by Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels
Ditch Plains by Loretta Fahrenholz, was produced in the aftermath of the disaster caused by the Sandy hurricane that hit the northern part of the United States including New York City. In an apocalyptic atmosphere, street dancers, members of the Ringmasters Crew, almost zombies, spread out in a city whose aspect oscillates between place of terror, mutation and magic.
