Chaise de la casa decorata de la triennale de Milan
1979
This chair adorned with colourful neon lights is in line with the radical Italian design of the 1960s.
ln 1979 Martine Bedin was invited to participate in the 16th Milan Triennale on the theme of La casa decorata. ln the context of the Alchimia group, she imagined the interior of a domestic space consisting of a wall of white tiles decorated with lightning patterns and a pink grid of duckboards, sprinkled with multicoloured pixels. Half throne, half chair, like a microarchitecture with archaic references and modern materials, this piece is the first object in Martine Bedin's career to evoke furniture. ln 1981, Ettore Sottsass invited her to join the Memphis group.
