"The canvas is free with you, not like other painters." (Michel Butor, French author)
From 1967 onwards, Marcel Alocco carried out numerous experiments using imprints and "blurrings" on bedsheets employed as free canvases, exploring the loss of meaning of an image when it is distorted into a simple stain. The domestic use of sheets, their symbolism associated with protection and their dimensions conditioned by the size of the body are of particular interest tto him. This sheet was folded to print the ornamental embroidery several times and the fold lines in the fabric were highlighted using red or black juice.
