Arture 204. Influences. "Arts et artistes"
1980
The Influences series (1980-1984) is dedicated to art, literature and figures that marked the artist.
Arslan started the series by evoking prehistoric times and their natural colours (Arture 204), while paying tribute to his favourite filmmakers in Arture 249. Arture 315 expresses the conceptual network of Bataille's ideas, with Nietzsche and Hegel on either side of his portrait, whereas the artist's homages to Rimbaud and Apollinaire feature text combined with images. Artaud's work (Arture 342), marked by omnipresent pain, was a precious source of workfor Arslan, who was readying himself to start his next series.
