(Sans titre (Poubelle))

Klara Lidén’s trash cans come from the streets of New York. A repository for the unwanted, the trash can now ironically finds itself in the elitist context of the art gallery. The work recalls the urban performances of the artist, who gives free rein to vandalistic impulses contrary to today’s social codes. Through this labour of rebellion, Lidén seeks to awaken a collective unconscious not yet domesticated by the routines of the city, while also positioning the artist as the “rag and bone merchant of history” (Walter Benjamin).
