An enthusiast of urban wanderings through unkempt marginal zones, Klara Lidén here presents herself as the vandal queen of the city. The keys to the city, which are traditionally attributed to mayors and politicians, are here the burglar’s tools, in an echo of Proudhon’s famous declaration that “Property is theft”. This portrait with its performative dimension stands as a programmatic anticipation of the artist’s activist engagement in the alternative and underground circles of the cities where she operates, notably Stockholm and Berlin.
