Signal Sculpture
vers 1956
"All of Takis' work focuses on imagining space, its music and infiniteness." (Pierre Restany, art critic)
A self-taught artist, Takis started making sculptures in the early 1950s, exploring the use of all kinds of materials. His first works were inspired by Alberto Giacometti's slender figures. After arriving in Paris in 1954, he took an interest in technology and science. Composed of three stems topped with parts of tools found by the artist that sways in the movement of the surrounding air, Signal seems to recreate the movements of cosmic energy.
