Signal
vers 1998
Takis was equally fascinated by technological modernity and by invisible energies.
lnspired by railway signals, Takis made his first signals in Paris in 1955. lnitially consisting of fine metal stalks topped off with salvaged items, the signals gained height and structure to capture the spirit of the material. Having become imposing receivers and "transmitters of cosmic energies", the slight inclination of the signals refers back to the slender flexibility of his early work. Placed on the north terrace of the Museum, they stand like totems of the city of Paris, the place where Takis 'art blossomed.
