Expulsion from Paradise
2007
Marked by the Romanian revolution of 1989, Ciprian Mureşan is fascinated by every issue to do with contemporary society. In a multidisciplinary approach, he uses drawing, painting, sculpture, installations, performance and video, adapting media freely according to his ideas and his collaborators. Treated in a decidedly academic and narratives way, these drawings humorously describe a chapter from the satirical popular novel by Ilf and Petrov, The Twelve Chairs (1928), in the form of a conversation. Disguised as burlesque, Mureşan's work criticises the Communist system and the condition of the artist in a society where everything has become concealment and lies.
