Recycled Playground
2011
Marked by the fall of Romania’s Communist regime in 1989, Ciprian Mureşan looks at its political and social consequences for his country. In Recycled Playground he has created a model railway for the new times, inspired by an abandoned train seen in a deserted amusement park: “I put myself in the place of a child trying to create a sort of toy […] using what was to hand in the street. I don’t know whether the park had gone to the dogs before 1989, but the situation got worse after the change of regime, giving birth to a landscape that looked like a cyberpunk movie or something out of Mad Max or Blade Runner.”
