Multi Chair
1970
With this Multi Chair seat, Colombo gave concrete form to his research into modular systems and moving objects, thus revolutionising the traditional form of the armchair.
Having already made several modular seats between 1968 and 1969, here the designer presented a convertible system composed of two polyurethane foam cushions connected by leather straps and covered with an elastic fabric. This single object is capable of satisfying different usages ranging from reading to conversation and relaxation. Colombo himself presented this model with new, apparently simple forms, integrating it into different multifunctional spaces that he continued to develop up until his death.
