Bataille de cavaliers
[1934 - 1936]
Born in Poland, Janice Tworkovsky took the name of her native city, Biala, when she emigrated to the US in 1913. Between 1920 and 1930, she made a number of visits to Paris, where she studied painting with Bonnard, Matisse and Braque, but remained at a distance from the movements and currents of the time. In a naive style, La Bataille des cavaliers depicts a world where forms appear and are diluted in a rich, lively scene that fills the canvas.
