Behjat Sadr was one of the pioneers of the modern Iranian style. After completing her studies, she moved towards abstract painting. Abandoning the stretcher, she would pour industrial paint onto supports laid out on the ground. In this work, she endeavoured to represent sculptural forms, describing them as follows: “By introducing empty space around big signs, I created silhouettes of more or less sculptural objects. This layout gave an imposing feel to the signs.”
