Liver (Supplies)
(Foie (Fournitures))
2006
Josephine Pryde takes photographs evoking the worlds of fashion, business and science in which she revisits the imagery of Modernism. Inspired by scientific photography, the Liver series investigates the organ in all its creative possibilities – as an object, as a portrait. Pryde’s artistic activism seeks to invest apparently neutral spaces of representation to make use of the critical distance and the symbolic violence they may paradoxically generate.
