“Art comes from the artificial because it is not nature.” (Kogelnik)
Developing in a very largely male artistic scene, Kiki Kogelnik allied feminism with technology as she questioned the body, which she examined through the prism of science. Although her way of relating to new technologies was ambiguous, fascinated and frightened in equal measure, it plays an important role in her work. The skeleton figure modified with mechanical parts and the use of an irradiated body composed of different materials reveal the artist's macabre humour and establish this work as a Pop vanitas.
