This house blends in perfectly with its surroundings and echoes the landscape with its scooped-out geometric volumes.
The Monsaraz House follows on from two projects presented at the Venice Biennale: Radix in 2012 and Fenda in 2016. The confrontation of architecture with time is one of the major research concerns of these projects. The house is built on a hill by the lake of the Alqueva dam in Portugal. The living spaces are arranged around a central dome that opens onto both the interior and exterior and brings light into the inner space, like the domes of the Temple of Diana in Baia and Villa Adriana in Tivoli in ltaly.
