Roberte et les barres parallèles
1990
For the writer, philosopher, actor and painter Klossowski, sculpture was an "incongruous plastic phenomenon".
Pierre Klossowski's late sculptural work was the ultimate development of his reflections on self-metamorphosis and transgression developed in his written work, films and drawings. lnspired by his wife Denise, the figure of Roberte attempting to resist a man possesses the phantasmagorical character of the great archetypes seen in the music-halls, cireuses and major silent films that impressed the artist during his childhood. For Klossowski, the real place of eroticism is a vision that isolates an instant of intellectual activity that he describes as the "instant of coherence when thoughts corne together".
