"What we were looking for here is an opening in terms of meaning; it is not a symbolic space, it is not a referential space, it allows the creation of a pure encounter with architecture." (Kerez)
In 2016, Christian Kerez represented Switzerland at the Venice Biennale of Architecture, where he exhibited Incidental Space, a vaguely defined structure halfway between a cloud and a cave. The shape was designed using plaster models and then generated randomly by a computer. Visitors were invited to enter the installation to experience this complex and unpredictable architectural space.
