Sans titre
[vers 1949]
Drawing at night by candlelight, Gill was guided by a spirit called Myrninerest.
Madge Gill, an illegitimate child, was placed in an orphanage by her mother. Having become a nurse, she was introduced to spiritualism by her aunt. After her marriage, her life was plunged into mourning by the deaths of several children. She fell ill and lost the use of her left eye. Drawing and contact with Myrninerest - her guiding spirit - then took up her whole life. She made thousands of drawings ranging from small cards to large compositions on cotton sheets, which were not discovered until after her death.
