Afternoon magnificently captures the course of a conversation between Tsai Ming-Liang and Lee Kang-Sheng, the actor in all his films, with whom he now shares a mountainside house.
Shot in a ramshackle room almost in ruins in this location, the film also leaves room for the view of the lush greenery of the surrounding landscape and the afternoon sky. Recorded shortly after the filmmaker announced for the first time his intention to retire from film, this exceptional document is an opportunity for him, along with his closest collaborator, to review his career, their joint work and the friendship that binds them.
