The Library honours sing language and the deaf world to commemorate the three hundredth anniversary of the birth of the Abbé de l'Épée, celebrated throughout the world as the father of sign language. Through exhibitions about and for the deaf, sign language workshops, a temporary library, debates, films and bilingual story hours, the public is invited to enter the world of the deaf. Hearing and deaf members of the public will be able to meet each other and experience together an often little known culture. Come and learn about a culture that talks with the hands!
