Jonathan Coe talks about the little-known British writer B.S. Johnson (1933-1973), who sought to write the truth and explored formal innovations of all kinds, which he used in his novels Albert Angelo, Trawl, House Mother Normal, Christie Malry's Own Double-Entry, and particularly The Unfortunates, an experimental book designed to be read in random order.
4 June, 7.00 p.m.: meeting with Jonathan Coe, Vanessa Guignery and Pascal Arnaud/5 June, 7.00 p.m.: conversation with Jonathan Coe about his own novels, with Vanessa Guignery.
