Portrait of Jason (preview)
by Shirley Clarke (1967)
29 Sep 2013

The event is over

Portrait of Jason was filmed during a night in December 1966, in a room of New York's legendary Chelsea Hotel. Alone in front of the camera, Jason recalls a life that he has invented for himself. Portrait of Jason paints a dark, half-glimpsed picture of American society in the Sixties, seen from the fringes: a homophobic and racist society haunted by McCarthyism and the Vietnam War. Showing introduced by Philippe-Alain Michaud (curator, Centre Pompidou). Portrait of Jason (1966, 100'), by Shirley Clarke.
