In 1946 Pierre Faucheux (1928-1999), a graphic designer and typographer, became the first artistic director of the French book club, Club Français du livre, then in 1954 joined the burgeoning staff of the, bookshops of France club, the Club des libraires de France. Finally, 1963, he took over the graphic design management of the Livre de Poche paperback publishing house, where he made his mark with some historic cover designs that have since become famous. Pierre Faucheux worked for almost all the French publishers and had a lasting influence on the world of books and graphic design.
