Good Friday at Pruchnik is the setting for a curious ritual: a Judas made from straw and hemp, with a hooked nose and small hat, is hung, beaten, decapitated, burnt and thrown in the river.

In 1956, Elie, a former deportee, decides to have his deportation number removed from his arm. He kept the strip of skin for 50 years in his wallet, until one day this is stolen.
