Elements of Vogue: A Case Study in Radical Performance
Performative lecture
09 Nov 2018
The event is over
The curators Sabel Gavaldon and Manuel Segade will deliver a performative lecture in the form of a sampler: a repository of textual, sonic and visual materials comprising fragments of poems, letters, manifestoes, and heterogeneous subcultural references that allow reconstructing the histories and legacies of voguing as a case study in radical performance.
Sabel Gavaldon (1985, Barcelona) is an independent curator based in London. His most recent projects engage with minoritarian poetics and politics while also exploring unusual curatorial formats, rhythms and temporalities. In 2016, he was nominated for the ICI New York Independent Vision Curatorial Award.
Manuel Segade (1977, A Coruña) is an art historian, curator and writer. Curator of the Spanish Pavilion in the last Venice Biennale, he is interested in an intersectional and low institutionality, which he applies as director of CA2M Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo, the regional public contemporary art museum of Madrid.
