Mona Varichon proposes a session around her web-series La Cité des Arts (2021), inspired by vlogs, amateur films and TV shows, which takes as a starting point the daily life of the residents and their friendly exchanges to draw a playful and political portrait of a group of artists engaged in their own way in a mutual and continuous learning.
The series proposes an artistic chronicle of the present time whose light form does not prevent reflection on the constitution of a community and its sociological and political forms of life
Mona Varichon (1989) is an artist and translator based in Paris and New York. Her work has recently been presented at the Capc musée d’art contemporain, Bordeaux (France); at the Festival Les Urbaines, Lausanne (Switzerland); at the Festival des Chichas de la Pensée at the Magasins Généraux, Pantin (France); at The Vanity gallery, Los Angeles (USA) and Balice Hertling, Paris (France); online at Renaissance TV, Jeu de Paume Lab and Cinema 3, ICA London; at the experimental cinema l’Etna, Montreuil (France); at the Redcat Theatre and Echo Park Film Center, Los Angeles; and at the Egyptian Theatre, Hollywood (USA).
