Re-prise is a tribute to photographer Moi Ver (1904-1995) and more specifically to the design for his photographic book Ci-Contre from 1931.
Heidi Specker made a copy of the design of Moi Ver's historic book by reproducing the title font and the size and positions of the images, but using her own colour photographs. The work is a contemporary urban portrait in which Specker combines the structures, surfaces, motifs and lights of cities, particularly of Berlin and Rome in the early 201Os. The images respond to each other, creating multiple correspondences with Moi Ver's work and his art of layout.
