[vers 1970]
This entertaining machine comes to life to enchant the ears and the sense of touch.
First a farmer, then a clog maker, on returning from the war Émile Ratier formed an indestructible bond with woodworking. Condemned by blindness to remain immobile at the age of 65, he used his inventiveness to create mobile sculptures that revealed his skill with wood and mechanics. Iron wires, nails and pieces of wood are the materials he cobbled together to construct machines representing merry-go-rounds, carts, clocks and boats. Here the handles activate a crocodile and a piece of metal that produces sounds.
