The end-of-study project by Edoardo Guazzoni, Sonia Beckdemirian, Claudio Maneri and Massimo Prizzon on the Milanese district of Porta Venezia was strongly influenced by the writings of Aldo Rossi and Giorgio Grassi. To begin with, the four students identified the mid-19th century as the historical period which lent the city its most visible configuration. They then explored the relations between permanent elements and those which couId potentially be modified. Their analysis led to the theme of the 11city in parts' composed of small island blacks.
