This project by the Aires Mateus brothers witnesses the encounter of a highly codified programme and bold formal experiment. Stretching out in a long, broken line that follows the slight slope of the site, the building is composed of a series of rooms separated by balconies and linked behind by corridors. The architecture suggests a kind of erosion, the balconies recessed into the room-side façade and corridor windows set in the varying thickness of the wall producing patches of shade that punctuate the white surface.
