Anselm Reyle’s work has a distinctively decorative aspect. Painting, installation and sculpture are the media in which he pursues his artistic researches, exploring changes of scale and format, optical distortions, extra bright colours and surface effects. He revisits the styles and concepts of 20th century art, reviving them in attractive and ever-changing forms borrowed from fashion and industry – Constantin Brancusi, Jeff Koons, Bertrand Lavier, Dan Flavin and Henry Moore are often referenced in his works. Untitled (Black Silver Aluminium Foil) is a mixed media painting covered in Plexiglas, generating an effect of cold electric light. The choice of materials gives the work, beyond its immediate attraction, an industrial and mechanical air.
