Guéridon Kristall
1981
With a free formal reinterpretation of a classic furniture item, and attention to the treatment of surfaces, this pedestal table is characteristic of the Memphis iconoclastic and pop culture aesthetic.
The form of the Kristall pedestal table is inspired by the lunar module of the Apollo XI mission (1969), during which the first man walked on the Moon. Its style is marked by the juxtaposition of a hound1s-tooth pattern with the bright colours of the table top and legs. Reminiscent of an insect's, its legs lend a humorous dimension to this object while infusing it with an original dynamic.
