"Concrete and non-abstract painting, because nothing is more concrete, more real than a line, than a colour, than a surface. It's the concretisation of the creative spirit." (Del Marle)
When painter Félix Del Marle founded the Groupe Espace with André Bloc in 1951, he was an active member of the Salon des Réalités Nouvelles (Salon of New Realities) where, in 1950, he opened a room dedicated to architecture, called "Space" by the critics. Del Marle, a protean artist, is one of the rare French representatives of Italian Futurism. He went on to join Mondrian's Neoplasticism. As a member of the Groupe Espace, when requested by the architect Bernard Zehrfuss, he took charge of the polychromy of the Renault factory at Flins.
