ln order to give the spaces flexibility and modularity, Alvarez took advantage of the material produced by SOMISA: steel.
Mario Roberto Alvarez was a representative of the modern movement in Argentina. His travels in Europe, where he met avant-garde figures, and his admiration for Mies van der Rohe had an influential impact on his housing designs and the building he built for IBM (1983), making his works true manifestos of modernity. The dialogue between the modern language of the West and local tradition conferred a unique identity to all his works.
