Alvaro Siza's volumes demonstrate a great sense of purity and an architecture focussed on the essential.
With the Carlos Ramos Pavilion, Alvaro Siza made one of the first buildings of the faculty of architecture of Porto, a complex facility with communicating volumes that is perfectly integrated into the city. This committed humanist architect was a student of Fernando Tavora, who founded the Porto school, which was opposed to the totalitarian Salazarist regime and promoted an architectural model at the service of all. Siza was awarded the Pritzker Prize in 1992.
