The Corruche House is a testament to Aires Mateus' minimalist and sculptural approach.
Positioned on a hill not far from the Comporta peninsula in Portugal, the house crystallises the two brothers' architectural concerns. lt is composed of four housing modules arranged within a landscaped park and graphic openings in the volumes frame the surrounding space. lts marked geometric simplicity creates a rhythmic effect with alternating solids and voids. The homogeneity of the materials used, notably raw concrete, accentuates the power of the whole and inscribes this house into the pages of contemporary architectural history.
