Le fils de Rhea
[1955]
Born in Brazil in 1920, Morgan-Snell is a self-taught artist. In 1948 she moved to Paris, where she received numerous commissions for murals in the city’s churches. In her work, she glorified the human body, drawing inspiration from the Bible and mythological scenes in Homer. With her in-depth knowledge of anatomy, she painted the beauty of human forms in motion, and sculpted figures with prominent muscles. The sensuality of her male bodies made her a gay icon in the Sixties.
