Appartement de Katerine S. Dreier à New York
1927
For Katherine Dreier art was a cosmic force field capable of transforming life, a mission she assigned to the Société Anonyme, the "first museum of modern art", which she founded with Marcel Duchamp.
Dreier lived in this spirit with her persona! collection in her different homes, in New York and West Redding, in Connecticut. The photographs Man Ray took in her apartment demonstrate that her personal choices were the same as those made for Société Anonyme: we find, notably, sculptures by Brancusi and paintings by Bourliouk, Kandinsky, Braque and Duchamp, whose last large painting, Tu m’ she owned along with Grand Verre [Large Glass].
