Landscape designer Yves Brunier developed a language of collage and clash of colour, as can be seen in his work for Rem Koolhaas. Rotterdam’s Museumpark juxtaposes four zones: an apple orchard with whitewashed trunks; a raised podium of stainless steel; a flood of flowers; and a plaza adjoining the Kunsthal. For the Parc urbain d’Euralille Brunier planned three zones: one of wood, stone and bark lending emphasis to the existing fortifications and cemetery, a botanical garden, and a promenade. Articulating the site as much as framing the house, the garden of the Villa Dall’Ava on the other hand is organised in terms of overlap and visual transparency.
